TIPS: How to make an interior statement

TIPS: How to make an interior statement

Are you someone who gushes over Pinterest decor photos alllll day, wanting the
best interior design when it comes to the space you live in than just bajillions of shiny new distractions. Then you are exactly like us!

As interior design enthusiasts and curators we are crazy about decorating +
organising the interior spaces. We believe your decor should speak to your heart and make you happy. This goal can and should guide all your decisions: what to buy, what to get rid of, how to arrange your rooms, what colours to choose. Basically everything.

We’ve rounded up 9 of our favourite tips for bringing joy into your space... the happy- dance, completely addictive, is-this-real kinds!

1. INVITE COLOUR INTO YOUR HOME

Colours play a huuuuuge role in how you feel about your space, but also how you feel in your space. If you want a home that brings you joy, take some time to
discover which colours keep you crushing for a long-time.
Most people think adding colours is one pretty on the nose way: painting walls. Sure, both soft + strong tones of colours can be brought into your home by painting walls. But pops of colour in cushions, blankets + rugs and all kinds of decor with a neutral backdrop of whites + greys are just as effective.
And remember, its not about making only your eyes happy. It’s about discovering
what colours bring you excitement + that heart-tingling feeling of absolute
contentment and bliss?
Like finding the right man (I’m winking at you all!)...you’ll know when you know!

2. CHOOSE TEXTURES YOUR EYES WILL LOVE TO FEEL
Texture does so much for dialling-up the mood + creating a mind blowing space!
Once you decide how you want your space to feel, you can texture it up.
Dreaming of a home design full of warm-fuzzies you can really sink into? Play up a variety of soft textiles, like cotton, leather, wool, or weaves. Layering these textures through wall decor, table tops, cushions or even tiny knick knacks is a subtle way to jazz up your home. Craving a relaxing, retreat-away-from home that gives you all the feels? Add some items made from woven materials, smooth surfaces, rustic surfaces, etc. Pulling in quirky elements through small furnishings as well as home accessories + decor like candle stands, sculptures and planters is the perfect way to pack a subtle professional interior design punch.

3. ORGANISE + DECLUTTER YOUR HOME AS MUCH AS POSSIBLE

We know the spine-tingling joy you’ll get from having an organised home, not limited to feelings of lightness but also peace + boundless freedom! Yesss, we know the feeling.
We also know how gosh-darn-easy it is to drag your feet on maintaining a clutter free home or getting started with organising. But take it from us — once you declutter and look at your space again, you'll be wondering why on this lush, green Earth you do it sooner!
So if you have some spaces that could use a little love, give ‘em all the love you’ve got and get rid of the things that you have been hoarding onto so that you can make space for fresh new things to spice up your space with some joy.

4. CHOOSE LIGHTING THAT BRIGHTENS YOUR MOOD

Lighting can seduce you, entice you, or put you right to sleep! That’s why it’s so
important to find lighting of all kinds - chandeliers, table lamps, etc. but what is better than the warmth of candles to light up your home and add a warm and cosy feeling to your spaces.
The warm light from candles in your space can positively impact your mood and
energy levels - also affecting your daily activities.
A little interior design tip, switching out a bulb or two and replacing it with mild candle light + taking a pleasure break can really lift your spirits high, giving you the perfect setting to enjoy some mental and physical rest that you so very well deserve after a long day at work.

6. REMEMBER THAT LESS IS MORE

No doubt about it the "less is more" rule applies to creating a home that brings you joy + feels like the ultimate guilty pleasure. Even if your home is organised, an over-crowded space with tons of decor + accessories does not make a happy soul.
Using light tones, textures and prints can really help your space look spacious,
freedom and the joy of giving to others what you + your family no longer use. I’d call that a win-win!
The biggest trick to ace the less is more design tip is to very mindfully and
consciously choose your decor pieces which are also functional. A few ideas how you can do that : Adding statement prints through cushions on your bed and lounge seating. Add a pop of colour by placing some quirky candle stands to your centre table or console tables. Adding plants will make your space look more open and breathy so that is a great technique too.

If you are the super minimalist kind already but don’t want your home looking boring in the name of less is more - add some colours and prints to your space through your lifestyle accessories - life laptop sleeves, journals, drapes, etc.
